Busan Festival Adds Thai Remake, Hong Kong Films; AFI Latin American Lineup Revealed

The 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) has announced additions to its Story Market, including a Thai remake and several Hong Kong titles, alongside its "Carte Blanche" selections curated by prominent figures like Fan Bingbing and Kim Jeewoon. This segment of the festival invites influential artists to share films that have personally resonated with them, offering insights into their creative journeys.

Meanwhile, the AFI Latin American Film Festival is set to feature Pedro Almodóvar's "Bitter Christmas" and Diego Luna's "Ashes" among its diverse programming. The festival, running from September 16 to October 7, will also host the premiere of "The Match," a documentary exploring a significant chess event. In other festival news, Chile has selected Manuela Martelli's "The Meltdown" as its submission for the Best International Feature Oscar, and the Austin Film Festival will honor filmmakers Brad Bird, Andrew Haigh, and Aleshea Harris.
