South Korea Demands Apology From Ukraine Over POW Transfer Disclosure

South Korea has formally requested an explanation and apology from Ukraine following Kyiv's disclosure of the transfer of two North Korean prisoners of war. Seoul accuses Ukraine of unilaterally revealing the move and then falsely denying an agreement to keep the transfer confidential.

According to South Korea's presidential office, Ukraine had repeatedly discussed the prisoners' transfer through various channels and had specifically requested secrecy. This request was reportedly made due to concerns that public disclosure could lead to domestic criticism in Ukraine for giving up an opportunity to exchange the soldiers for Ukrainian prisoners. South Korea agreed to the non-disclosure agreement, citing security, diplomatic, and humanitarian concerns, including the safety of the prisoners and their families. The presidential office expressed "strong regret" over Ukraine's actions and stated that further measures are being considered if necessary.
