Russian forces launched a drone strike directly at the headquarters of Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) in Kyiv, an act described by Ukraine's foreign minister as a "major escalation" of the ongoing conflict. The attack, which occurred without warning, sent plumes of black smoke into the air over the Ukrainian capital.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he has instructed the SBU to deliver an "appropriate, tangible response" to the strike.
