British Cyclist Finlay Tarling Dies in Volta a Portugal Accident; Union Calls for Better Safety Measures

Nineteen-year-old British cyclist Finlay Tarling has died following an accident during the Volta a Portugal. Tarling's team, NSN, has withdrawn from the remainder of the race in the wake of the tragedy. The young rider, brother of Ineos cyclist Josh Tarling, was reportedly involved in a head-on collision with a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, which was not connected to the event.

Organizers confirmed that the Tour of Portugal would continue, but without any celebratory elements. The cyclists' union has expressed "fury" over Tarling's death and is calling for improved safety measures, including better helmets, in the sport.
