Leknessund Wins Vuelta Stage Amid National Mourning for King Harald

Andreas Leknessund of Norway secured his first Grand Tour stage win on stage seven of the Vuelta a España, launching a successful solo attack on the final climb. His victory came on a day when Norway was mourning the death of King Harald, adding a poignant layer to the achievement.

Leknessund broke away from a five-rider group with 7.5 kilometers remaining in the 149.8km stage from Vall d’Alba. He managed to pull away and cross the finish line ahead of his Uno-X Mobility teammate and compatriot, Tobias Johannessen.
