Court Hears of Fear, Gun Struggle in Australian Double Murder Trial

A Sydney court heard testimony that Jesse Baird, one of two men allegedly murdered by former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon, was "petrified" of the accused. Baird reportedly feared Lamarre-Condon, an armed officer, could fabricate allegations to ruin his career. Lamarre-Condon is accused of fatally shooting Baird and his partner, Luke Davies, with a police-issued firearm at Baird's home in February 2024.

During the trial, Lamarre-Condon's defense argued self-defense, claiming a struggle over a gun. The court was told Baird expressed extreme fear of the accused, highlighting a perceived power imbalance and the potential for abuse of authority. The defense also stated Lamarre-Condon was "understandably panicked" and began cleaning the crime scene after the alleged incident.
