A North Carolina state highway patrol trooper, Nekime Matu Oxendine, has been indicted on a charge of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Cumberland County Sheriff's Captain Adam Bean. The incident, which occurred on March 27th at a residence in Hope Mills, is described as an apparent domestic dispute. A grand jury formally indicted Oxendine, 44, who is currently being held without bond.
In a separate case, an arrest has been made in Mississippi concerning the death of Tasia Fortune, a Black woman whose body was discovered hanged from a tree in the lot of an abandoned home in August.
