FCC Seeks Dismissal of ABC Lawsuit, Plans Robocall Scorecard

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has requested a Washington D.C. court to dismiss a First Amendment lawsuit filed by ABC. The network accuses the FCC of a "retaliatory campaign" that infringes on its free speech rights. The lawsuit, filed in August, aims to halt an FCC proceeding initiated by Chairman Brendan Carr.

In parallel consumer protection efforts, the FCC is also developing a "robocall scorecard" to evaluate phone companies' effectiveness in blocking spam calls. This initiative aims to provide transparency by potentially including data on call-blocking statistics and customer complaints for each carrier. These actions signal the FCC's ongoing engagement with regulatory and enforcement matters concerning media and telecommunications.
