FBI Revises Hiring Policy on Past Sex Work Encounters

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is altering its hiring policy, moving away from an automatic disqualification for applicants who have had sexual encounters with sex workers. This change reflects a broader trend of evolving recruitment standards within federal law enforcement agencies as they seek to replenish their ranks.

Under the revised policy, the FBI will now consider such past encounters in a more holistic manner for some candidates. However, individuals who have engaged in these activities within the past 10 years, three or more times, or while in a public safety capacity will still be dismissed. This adjustment follows previous relaxations in hiring standards, such as those concerning past marijuana use.
