EV Battery Durability Exceeds Expectations in New Studies

Recent analyses of electric vehicle batteries reveal a surprising resilience, challenging earlier concerns about rapid degradation. A study involving nearly 10,000 battery tests found that used EV batteries maintain significantly more capacity than anticipated. Specifically, the Kia e-Niro model retained an impressive 97% of its original capacity after 62,000 miles, indicating a longer lifespan for these components.

Further supporting this trend, a BYD luxury EV model demonstrated minimal capacity loss after undergoing 350 flash charging cycles, with a reduction of only 1.3%. These findings suggest that the longevity and performance of EV batteries are robust, potentially easing consumer anxieties about long-term ownership costs and the environmental impact of battery replacement.
