The former Swiss international Gelson Fernandes, described as an Infantino loyalist, has been appointed as the director of member associations for the Caribbean. This new role is in addition to his existing responsibilities overseeing FIFA's African members. FIFA has stated that the changes are intended to make the sport "truly global."
