An artificial intelligence model developed by researchers at the University of Bern and Switzerland's National Centre of Competence in Research PlanetS has identified 44 known star systems that may harbor undiscovered Earth-like planets. The AI analyzes existing data from planetary systems, using the characteristics of known planets to infer the potential presence of others that are too small or faint to be detected by current telescopes.
This innovative approach achieved high precision scores, up to 99%, when tested on simulated planetary systems. While the predicted exoplanets remain unconfirmed and require further observational verification, this development marks a significant step forward in the search for potentially habitable worlds beyond our solar system. The success of the model hinges on future follow-up observations to validate its predictions.
