India has lodged a strong protest against a new United Nations map that depicts Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin as separate regions, rather than integral parts of Indian territory. The map, which has surfaced recently, has drawn sharp criticism from New Delhi, which views these areas as unequivocally its own.

This development is particularly sensitive given the long-standing territorial disputes India has with China over these regions. India's Ministry of External Affairs has reiterated its position that Arunachal Pradesh is an inalienable part of India and that Aksai Chin is also part of Indian territory. The UN's depiction is seen as undermining India's sovereignty and potentially legitimizing rival claims.
