Passenger Duct-Taped to Seat After Mid-Flight Outburst on American Airlines

An American Airlines flight was diverted to Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall airport after a 67-year-old passenger, Layne Lundeen, allegedly engaged in unruly behavior, including the use of racial and homophobic slurs. Lundeen was subsequently restrained to his first-class seat with duct tape and zip ties for the remainder of the flight.

Lundeen, who was traveling from Dallas, Texas, to Newark, New Jersey, stated that he has no recollection of the incident. He was reportedly read charges, including assaulting a police officer, but claimed he did not have his glasses and could not see the documents.
