Teacher Aims for Ultrarunning History in Six-Day World Championship

Middle-school math teacher Megan Eckert is set to compete in the Global Organization of Multi-Day Ultramarathoners World Championship in Balatonfüred, Hungary. The event challenges over 100 runners to cover as many miles as possible within a six-day period.

Eckert, who previously held the women's record and once feared running a 5K, will be attempting to surpass her own distance record and challenge the existing men's mark. Her participation highlights a growing interest in extreme endurance events within the running community.
