Nepal Flood Survivors Recount Devastation as Death Toll Climbs

Survivors of a catastrophic flash flood in Nepal are recounting their harrowing experiences as the death toll from the disaster continues to rise, exceeding 300 confirmed fatalities. The flood, triggered by a massive rockslide and glacial collapse, has left a trail of unprecedented devastation, erasing miles of roads and sweeping away vital bridges.

The sheer speed and force of the water overwhelmed communities, leaving many with little to no time to react. The disaster has marooned an estimated quarter of a million people, severing critical communication and power lines and significantly hindering rescue and aid efforts. The compromised infrastructure poses a major challenge to reaching those in need and to the ongoing search for approximately 1,400 missing individuals, including foreign nationals.
