Major Art Heists See Millions in Masterpieces Recovered Globally
Recent weeks have seen significant developments in the recovery of stolen artworks, with Italian authorities successfully retrieving paintings by Cézanne, Renoir, and Matisse, valued at over $10 million. The artworks were taken in a nighttime heist from the Magnani Rocca Foundation near Parma in March. In a separate incident, Brazilian police recovered eight Matisse prints that had been looted from a library in São Paulo last year. Meanwhile, a Picasso print, stolen from a Milwaukee gallery in 2018, has also been found by a landlord cleaning out a vacant apartment.
