Richard Hughes has officially taken on the position of sporting director at Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal, marking his departure from Liverpool. Hughes, who joined the Anfield club in 2024 from Bournemouth, played a role in appointing Arne Slot as Jürgen Klopp's successor, a decision that coincided with Liverpool's Premier League title win in the 2024-25 season. However, Slot was later dismissed and replaced by Andoni Iraola in June.
