Australian EV Sales Surge, Range Rover Sport Electric Debuts, BMW i3 Revamped

Electric vehicle sales in Australia have more than doubled year-on-year, with one EV sold every 100 seconds in the first half of the year. A total of 157,957 new EVs were registered nationally between January and June, marking a significant surge in consumer adoption.

In parallel, the automotive industry is seeing new model introductions and updates. The Range Rover Sport Electric is set to launch, sharing its platform and specifications with the Range Rover Electric but offering increased torque at a lower price point. BMW has also revealed more details about its revamped i3, an all-electric sedan built on the Neue Klasse platform, boasting an impressive range of up to 468 miles. Meanwhile, Tesla is securing substantial new credit lines, totaling $30 billion, to support its scaling efforts for projects like the Cybercab and Optimus robot, although the company does not anticipate drawing on these facilities this year.
