US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has asserted that a foreign actor was "clearly" involved in the suspected bomb plot near RAF Fairford in the UK. This statement comes as five British nationals, arrested in connection with the incident, were released on bail. The suspects, all in their 20s and from London, were apprehended near the airbase in three vans containing suspicious materials. While an Iranian link was a key line of inquiry, police stated the alleged offenses could have been committed "knowingly or unknowingly" on behalf of a foreign state.

Local representatives, including an MP and councillors, have voiced skepticism and demanded answers regarding the security response and how the suspects were allowed to be in residential areas. The incident led to the evacuation of approximately 85 properties in the nearby village of Whelford.
