Affleck's 'Animals' Sparks Political Talk; Baldwin Biopic, 'Miami Vice' Reboot Announced

Ben Affleck's latest directorial effort, "Animals," where he portrays a mayoral candidate, has led his cast to playfully suggest he run for office, a notion Affleck himself entertains with a touch of humor. The film, which Affleck also co-wrote, taps into his known political activism.

In other film industry developments, Anonymous Content is partnering with Higher Ground Productions to develop a feature film based on the life of writer James Baldwin. The script will be penned by Marlon James and James Baldwin scholar Nicholas Boggs. Meanwhile, Universal is gearing up for a "Miami Vice" reboot titled "Miami Vice '85," with Joseph Kosinski directing and Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler attached to star. Walton Goggins is reportedly in talks to join the cast in a villainous role.
