The World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest has seen thrilling performances and significant prize money awarded. Swiss star Audrey Werro continued her impressive season, securing a dominant victory in the women's 800 meters, once again besting Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson. Werro's win, part of a lucrative "arms race" among top 800m runners, earned her a $150,000 prize.

In the sprints, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden delivered a world-leading performance in the 100 meters, clocking 10.62 seconds to defeat Julien Alfred. This victory also secured her a $150,000 payout. Other notable winners included Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who reclaimed the 5000m title, and Nicola Olyslagers, who despite finishing second in the high jump, received the largest payday of her career. World Athletics president Sebastian Coe also reiterated the governing body's unchanged stance on sanctions against Russian and Belarusian athletes.
