Leon Black Sues Congress Over Epstein Subpoenas, Defies Deposition

Billionaire financier Leon Black has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. House Oversight Committee, challenging the validity of subpoenas demanding he share non-disclosure agreements related to his ties with Jeffrey Epstein. Black failed to appear for a scheduled deposition on Thursday, instead opting to sue the committee, arguing it lacks the authority to compel him to produce the documents.

Committee Chair James Comer stated that Black's testimony is crucial to their investigation into how federal agencies failed survivors of Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell's crimes, and how Epstein sought to influence powerful individuals. Comer criticized Black for "hiding behind litigation" rather than providing answers, while a Democrat on the committee suggested holding the billionaire in contempt for defying two subpoenas.
