Belgian Sebastien Pocognoli Appointed Scotland Men's Head Coach

The Scottish Football Association has named Sebastien Pocognoli as the new head coach for the Scotland men's national team, signing the 39-year-old Belgian on a two-year contract. Pocognoli, formerly of Monaco and Union Saint-Gilloise, becomes the first non-Scottish manager since Berti Vogts, who managed the team from 2002 to 2004.

Pocognoli's appointment follows Steve Clarke's departure after Scotland's exit from the World Cup group stage. The SFA described Pocognoli as "one of Europe's brightest emerging coaching talents." His predecessor, Hearts boss Wouter Vrancken, who played with Pocognoli years ago, has backed him to succeed in the role.
