Humanoid Robot Smashes Usain Bolt's 100m Record at Beijing Games

A new era in robotics has dawned as a humanoid robot, Tiangong Ultra, shattered Usain Bolt's 100-meter world record, clocking in at an astonishing 9.39 seconds. The record-breaking feat occurred during the preliminary heats of the World Humanoid Robot Games held in Beijing, China. This event, now in its second edition, features over 2,000 robots from 16 nations competing in a variety of athletic challenges, including sprinting, weightlifting, and tug of war.

The performance by Tiangong Ultra, developed by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, surpassed Bolt's previous record of 9.58 seconds set in 2009. Another competitor, Honor's Lightning robot, also demonstrated impressive speed, finishing the sprint in 9.47 seconds. These advancements highlight the rapid progress in humanoid robotics, pushing the boundaries of speed and agility previously thought to be exclusive to human athletes.
