South Korea Considers Winter Football Season Amidst Extreme Summer Heat

South Korean football authorities are exploring a significant shift in the K-League's schedule, proposing a move to a winter season. This potential change aims to mitigate the challenges posed by increasingly unbearable summer temperatures, which have led to concerns for player and fan safety.

The current March-to-November schedule is being re-evaluated as extreme weather conditions impact the league. A recent survey indicated that over 70% of K-League coaches favor aligning with the European football calendar, which runs from late August to May, incorporating a winter break. This move would also bring South Korea in line with Japan's professional league, which has already adopted a similar schedule.
