Nairobi to Host Historic 2029 World Athletics Championships

Nairobi, Kenya, has been selected as the host city for the 2029 World Athletics Championships, marking the first time the prestigious event will be held on the African continent. The announcement was made by World Athletics President Sebastian Coe following the conclusion of the inaugural Ultimate Championship in Hungary.

This decision represents a significant milestone for African athletics, with Kenya, a nation renowned for its dominance in distance running, finally securing a global championship of this magnitude. London had also bid for the 2029 event but was unsuccessful, with Munich confirmed as the host for the 2031 championships.
