Turner's 'Rome' Painting Returns to City Ahead of Record Auction

J.M.W. Turner's celebrated painting, "Rome, from Mount Aventine," is making a rare appearance in the Italian capital, its namesake city, before heading to auction in London.

Described as the artist's "great love letter" to Rome, the 19th-century masterpiece, one of the few Turner works still in private hands, will be exhibited at Palazzo Rondinini. This marks the painting's first display in Rome in nearly two centuries. Following its brief showing in Italy, the artwork is slated for exhibition in Hong Kong and New York before its anticipated sale in December, where it is expected to fetch a record price.
