Cambridge University to Hold Independent Inquiry into Jason Arday Appointment

Cambridge University has agreed to launch an independent inquiry into the appointment of Jason Arday as a professor, following internal pressure and concerns about his academic qualifications. Vice-chancellor Deborah Prentice acknowledged the 'anger and anxiety around this damaging and difficult case' in a letter to staff, stating that the university recognizes the affair has damaged its reputation. The inquiry aims to address the controversy surrounding Arday, who was appointed as the university's youngest Black professor in 2023 but resigned after the university began investigating his qualifications.
