Proposed Florida AI Data Center Raises Environmental Concerns

A proposed hyperscale data center in western Palm Beach County, Florida, has sparked warnings from environmentalists about potential damage to the nearby Everglades. The 600MW facility, planned on a 202-acre parcel about 16 miles from Mar-a-Lago, could strain water and electricity resources in an area already stressed by drought and pollution. Experts fear it may worsen toxic algal blooms in Lake Okeechobee, which feeds the Everglades, a region that has seen $6 billion in restoration efforts.
