New Markdown Format Aims to Give AI Distinct Personalities

A novel markdown file format, dubbed soul.md, is emerging as a potential solution to the pervasive issue of AI-generated content lacking unique voices. Current methods for imbuing AI with personality, such as expensive model fine-tuning or generic system prompts, are often insufficient, leading to outputs that sound indistinguishable from one another.

This new approach seeks to create more authentic AI personas by specifying identity, worldview, opinions (including contradictions), writing style, and memory within a portable markdown structure. This allows the personality specification to be transferable across different AI models and vendors, offering a more flexible and accessible way to develop distinct AI characters. A test case involving an Elon Musk persona demonstrates the format's potential for creating recognizable and nuanced AI interactions.
