Iran Sets Conditions for Reopening Strait of Hormuz as Talks Stall

Iran has issued a list of tough demands for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, stating that the strategic waterway will remain closed until the United States 'corrects its behaviour.' The statement, delivered by the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, who is also an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander, dampened hopes of a near-term deal. The announcement came as the United Arab Emirates reported that one of its ships was targeted by an Iranian missile, further escalating tensions in the region.
