Hydrogen-Powered Car Sets New Land Speed Record at 406 mph

British driver Andy Green, a retired Royal Air Force pilot, set a new land speed record for hydrogen-powered vehicles on Tuesday, reaching 406.320 mph (653.908 km/h) at a test track. The car, powered by two hydrogen internal combustion engines producing a combined 1,600 horsepower, more than doubled the previous official hydrogen combustion record set in 2004. The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the international governing body of motor sports, confirmed the record.
